This website is operated by BC ARABIC SCHOOL FOUNDATION. The terms “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to BC ARABIC SCHOOL FOUNDATION. The Terms apply to all users of our website, including without limitation, users who are browsers, customers, merchants, vendors and/or contributors of content. If you access and use this website, you accept and agree to be bound by and comply with the Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to the Terms or our Privacy Policy, you are not authorized to access our website, use any of our website’s services or place an order on our website.

Any disputes arising out of or relating to the Terms, the Privacy Policy, use of our website, or our products or services offered on our website will be resolved in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any disputes, actions or proceedings relating to the Terms or your access to or use of our website must be brought before the courts of the Province of British Columbia in the City of Vancouver,British Columbia and you irrevocably consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of such courts.

School Code of Conduct

All students, parents, teachers, staff and community in general have the right to be safe, and feel safe, in their community. With this right comes the responsibility for everyone to be accountable for their actions and contribute to a positive school environment.

Standards of Behaviour

At all times, everyone at school must:

follow Islamic dress code, Islamic etiquette, and Islamic manners
respect and follow all applicable laws
demonstrate honesty and integrity
respect differences in people
treat one another with dignity and respect at all times, especially when there is disagreement
respect and treat others fairly
respect the rights of others
show care and respect for school property and the property of others
take the proper steps to help those in need
respect all members of the school community, especially those in a position of authority
respect the need of others to work in an environment that is conducive to learning and teaching
seek help from school staff, if necessary, to resolve conflict peacefully
not swear at a teacher, at another person in a position of authority, or at any other person

Safety

Everyone at school must not:

engage in any form of bullying, whether it is in person or through technology
use any object to threaten or intimidate another person
injure anyone
be in possession of alcohol, cannabis, or illegal drugs
be under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or illegal drugs
provide others with alcohol, cannabis, or illegal drugs
engage in hate propaganda or other types of behaviour caused by hate or bias
commit an act of vandalism that causes damage to any property

Roles and Responsibilities

Teachers:

To help students work to their full potential and develop their self-worth
To empower students to be positive leaders in their classroom, school and community
To communicate regularly with parents
To maintain consistent and fair standards of behaviour for all students
To show respect for all students, staff, parents, volunteers and school community in general
To prepare students for the full responsibilities of citizenship

Parents:

To engage in their child's school work and progress
To communicate regularly with the school
To make sure their child is properly dressed and prepared for school
To ensure that their child attends school regularly and on time
To inform the school promptly about their child's absence or late arrival
To become familiar with the school's terms, codes, and policies
To encourage and help their child follow the rules of behaviour
To help school staff deal with disciplinary issues involving their child

Students:

To come to school prepared, on time and ready to learn
To show respect for themselves, for others and for those in authority
To refrain from bringing anything to school that may put the safety of others at risk
To follow the established rules and takes responsibility for their own actions

use one of the avatars that have appropriate legal permission to use (for students only).
posts to discuss school-related content only.
a respectful tone of voice when posting. All school rules and consequences related to harassment apply.
appropriate grammar instead of texting language.
limit any use of sarcasm to avoid misinterpretations.

All users must NOT:

use their posts to promote personal websites or chat rooms.
reveal any personal information. This includes telephone numbers, addresses, emails, etc.
post photos or videos showing themselves or classmates without permission.
post inappropriate photos or videos.

Privacy Policy

For example, we may not disclose information relating to you if other individuals are referenced or if there are legal, security or commercial proprietary restrictions.

10. Web Conferencing Privacy Notice

We use web-conferencing systems, such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams, for teaching and learning online that provides real-time sharing of audio, video, slides, chat, and screen. When you use this site, personal Information about you, such as your name, email address, image, voice, and class participation is collected under the authority of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of BC, s. 26(c), to promote individual and group learning. The live sessions are recorded and shared for educational purposes and will be stored by our service provider(s). When using our sites or participate in live sessions, you are requested not to divulge personal information about others, or to share personal information about yourself that is not necessary for class participation.
